For this animation, I will be using this image.
This tutorial is to show you the technique on how to make this, it will also give you insight on the many other uses for imageready.
If you choose to copy that image and use that for this tutorial, then feel free to.
Step 1: In photoshop- Take the layer that you want to add tech scan to, and drag the layer down to the new layer button to duplicate the layer.
once you have done that, take the duplicated layer,
press ctrl+u to open up the hue and saturation, and make the layer pure black. Press OK, then change the layer blending mode to color dodge, it will now appear that the layer has dissapeared, this is because color dodge only reacts to anything other than #000000(black) hense, it make the layer appear hidden. Now apply gradient overlay by right clicking on the layer, then pressing on blending options, and by selecting gradient overlay.
Click on the down arrow by the gradient, then click on the arrow on the right of the gradient menu, then press on load gradients, and load the metal gradient set
Apply these settings to gradient overlay
press ok, and you should have a vetical line on your image
Step 2: now for something that most people don't know yet.
Double click on the Gradient overlay under your layer to open up the Gradient overlay window
once you have that open, press anywhere on your acutal image, and drag to either side, and you will see that the gradient line moves, that will be the basis of our animation, now drag the gradient line to the right of the image and out of the viewable area of it.
once you have done that. press "jump to ImageReady"
You will see that by pressing on that, it will load up imageready and you can now begin the animation. make sure that you have your layers window
|Window->Layers|
and your animation window
|window->animation| open.
now make a new frame by pressing on this button
now that you have the new frame, select that frame, and press "jump to photoshop" located at the same place as "jump to imageready" in photoshop.
Now that your have photoshop open again. double click on the Gradient overlay under the black layer, when you have the gradient overlay window open, press on your image and drag to the left until the gradient line on your image dissapears.
press ok, then press jump to imageready. now that you have imageready open, highlight both frames(not layers) and press on the tweenbutton
and input these settings
you will see a bunch of frames appearing, coming to a total of 32 frames, press the play button, then shrink down the animation window to see the actuall animation in better quality, this is what your final product should look like.
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial. You are welcome to Register at catalystic designs and ask for help with the animation.
